Tips to make your pool a safe haven for all
Having a swimming pool in your own back yard can make your home
one of the neighborhood’s most sought-after fun spots. It’s great to
have your children and their friends close to home, but with that comes
a responsibility to make sure your pool environment is a safe one.
Here are some guidelines to help you make your pool safer.
- First and foremost, make sure children never have access to the
pool area unless they are properly supervised.
- Our Rizzo experts can advise you in the proper type of pool alarms
(i.e., door alarms and pool alarms).
- Gating should be 4-feet high on all sides of the pool and should be
self-closing and self-latching. Steps and ladders should be secured
and locked when not in use.
- For safety’s sake, there should be no alcohol drinking around the
pool.
- Proper lighting is an essential component in keeping your pool safe.
Lighting inside the pool will illuminate beneath the surface of the
pool and lighting around the pool will help to prevent falls.
- Proper design and non-obscured views are also essential to keeping
your pool area safe.
- Be prepared in case of an emergency. Keep a first-aid kit near the pool
The vast majority of pool owners derive years of pleasure from their
pools without any mishaps. With proper care and supervision, most
accidents can be prevented.
